This may come as a surprise but this week’s RFF is a Michigan/OSU game. Of course my buckeye buddy Kyle is here for this one as we are going to look back at the 2006 contest. This was the 1 vs 2 game as each team came into the game unbeaten and the winner clinched a sport in the National Title game.
Each of us was in the stadium that faithful day. It was my first and only experience at the Horseshoe and given the circumstances it was unlike any sporting event I have ever been to. The prior day Bo Schembechler passed away while taping a local television show. His death just heightened everyone’s emotions that day. All I can remember was the sudden shock I felt when I heard he passed and the day of the game feeling like he had been gone for a lot longer than 24 hours.

For all of the build up weeks prior and emotion over flowing on the day of the game it would have been understandable if the game ended up flat. That did not happen as the game exceeded the hype and everyone got to watch one of the best games in the history of the rivalry…
Who and When: #2 Michigan at #1 OSU Saturday November 18th 330pm

The Situation: OSU came into the season ranked #1 and had a Heisman candidate in QB Troy Smith. They each lived up to their billing as the Buckeyes were unbeaten and relatively unchallenged all year. Smith was the favorite to win the Heisman and needed another epic performance against Michigan to cement his legacy. Michigan came into the season with far less fanfare coming off a 7-5 season in 2005. They were led by a dominant defense and a power run game that had led them to an 11-0 record as well.
